Checking Out Items from the Law Library

To check out an item from the Law Library, simply bring the item to the Circulation Desk and we will check the item out to you.

If you would like to check out an item during a time that the Circulation Desk is not staffed, please send an email with title and author information to or your faculty liaison.  As soon as possible we will retrieve the title, check it out to you, and deliver the book to your office.

Faculty are entitled to special circulation privileges.  The check-out period for regular circulating items extends until the end of the academic year.

Checking Out Items From I.D. Weeks

Many faculty members do not have their borrowing account linked to their Coyote Card barcode, but rather to a Law Library internally-supplied barcode.  Thus, when going to I.D. Weeks to check out an item, your Coyote Card will not be linked to your account and you may have difficulty in checking out an item.  If you anticipate checking out items frequently from I.D. Weeks, please contact the law library staff in order to link your account with your Coyote Card.

Another option is to assign a proxy to be able to check out books on your behalf, for example a Graduate Assistant.  You will need to fill out a copy of the Proxy Authorization Form (below).  This form is also available through MyU --> Library Tab -> Bottom Left Under Library Policies and Procedures.  When sending your proxy to I.D. Weeks, they will need to bring 1) the completed authorization form, 2) their ID card, and 3) your ID card.
