Tribal Opinions spanning the years of 1989 to the present

Professor Pommersheim sits as Chief Justice for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Court of Appeals, Chief Justice for the Crow Creek Sioux Supreme Court, Associate Justice for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal Court of Appeals, and Associate Justice for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Supreme Court.  In addition, he has served in the past as an Associate Justice for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Court of Appeals, Lower Sioux Indian Community Court of Appeals, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Supreme Court, and the Grand Portage Chippawa Tribal Court of Appeals.  He was recently appointed as a justice to the Winnebago Supreme Court.

Professor Pommersheim was appointed as tribal justice for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Supreme Court in 1987.  The earliest of his opinions is dated April 24,1989. The opinions are organized by specific subjects and each tribe's opinions are ordered in date order within the subject category.  A link to each opinion enables access to the opinion in its entirety.  Use the Internet Find feature to search for terms within the opinion. Each opinion will also be found in the Subject Matter tab under the topics pertinent to the opinion.

The opinions for each tribe are listed in boxes according to the year that they were handed down.  The opinions are then in alphabetical order by the opinion name. Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed on the computer since all opinions are in pdf format.

To search for a name or concept within the opinion, click on the opinion file you wish to view. When the document opens click on "control and f" to get the "Find" function. Then type the word in the Find box, use the arrow key to be taken through the document to all the places that the word occurs.
