Beef Products Inc. v. ABC News - Complaint
A group of producers of textured beef, commonly referred to by news agencies as "pink slime," has filed a defamation suit against ABC News, Inc. in the First Judicial Circuit Court in Union County, South Dakota. The complaint (see below) alleges that under South Dakota Law (SDCL 20-10A-1) the ABC News portrayal of the meat as unhealthy was false and defamatory.
Local News Updates on BPI v ABC Lawsuit
Dec. 17, 2013: With the lawsuit returned to South Dakota circuit court, ABC News has moved to dismiss BPI's case based on 1st Amendment protections.
Oct. 24, 2012: ABC lawyers are requesting that the law suit filed in the South Dakota circuit court be moved to Federal court because the parties are in different states.
